Char Barossa has steaked its claim (pun intended) as the place to go if you’re looking for a good steak in Tanunda.

As a newcomer to Barossa’s well-established culinary dining circuit, the restaurant has a fast-growing reputation for serving the best steaks along with the best wines in the region.

Located on Tanunda’s main street, Char Barossa opened late last year and reopened after COVID-19 shutdowns with a determined new attitude to survive and thrive in the Barossa wine scene.

Owners, Kyran and Cassie Gardner, lead their small team with loads of hospitality enthusiasm and a chargrill producing MSA rated steaks with mouth-watering appeal to enjoy with hearty reds.

Watch this venue, keeping it simple with fresh quality produce and a passion for regional hospitality.

The temporary take-away menu grew a firm following for their signature Char Burgers including the impressive Wagyu Beef Burger, which has now become a menu favourite.

Char Barossa drew inspiration from the chargrill, but their range extends to other delectable dishes, entrees, sides, and desserts that make this a memorable experience.

The carefully selected wine list represents all that is good about the Barossa, with the addition of impressive ‘cellar selections’ bottles that have been hand plucked from private collections.

An additional dining experience also launched at the start of October, otherwise known as ‘Churrasco at Char’.

‘Churrasco at Char’ allows guests to create their own chargrill experience by selecting your favourites from the Churrasco menu including meat, seafood  & vegetarian options.

The resturant favours South Australian produce such as the Barossa Valley Cheese Co Haloumi & Spencer Gulf King Prawns, the Chef also has a weekly addition to the menu keeping it fun and offering lots of variety for our regular diners.

Passionate Barossans, Kyran and Cassie Gardner, opened Char Barossa with a vision to add another notch of diversity in Barossa’s dining options with a relaxed dining experience with simple, good quality food… and really good steak.

The family-owned business offers a seasonal menu featuring the chargrill and supports local producers wherever possible.
