Nexus Multicultural Arts Centre is proud to present a brand new series of contemporary original music from local and international acts, running every Friday night from September 7 to November 30.

With 27 local and international artists performing blues, flamenco, classical, rock, funk and folk, there is something for everyone in the Nexus World Music Series.

“The World Music Series is a celebration of some of the lesser known musical gems Adelaide has on offer. When people think of world music they tend to think it’s something that only exists outside our state but that’s simply not the case. The season has a mix of both local and international performers but its greatest strength is that it really showcases the wonderful diversity of the Adelaide music scene,” said Nexus program coordinator Ross McHenry.

The opening night Barn Dance on September 7 is sure to be a raucous party.

Featuring three rising-stars of Adelaide’s country music scene Max Savage and the False Idols, The Bakers Digest and Carla Lippis and the Martial Hearts this country hoedown is not to be missed.

On October 12 two of Adelaide’s most compelling storytellers, iconic guitar virtuoso Chris Finnen and multi-award winning performer Cal Williams jr., come together for a special one off show.

Other local acts include internationally acclaimed classical guitar virtuoso Alex Tsiboulski, New Orleans brass band The Atlantic Street Band and jazz-latin-world troupe Marmalade Circus.

A number of distinguished international acts will also be gracing our shores. On October 19, the award winning French-Canadian quartet, Le Vent du Nord, renowned for their frenetic live performances, bring their unique take on traditional and Québécois folk to Nexus.

Adventurous world-music proponent and one of South Africa's premier flautists, Wouter Kellerman demonstrates his fusion of influences and styles with vocals, instruments and dance on November 9.
