Two bored office workers are at the centre of this physical comedy, created and performed by Josh Mitchell and Adam Jackson.

The gutted space of the old Regent Cinema makes a fitting environment for the empty lives of the workers who pass the day with meaningless, repetitive labour and games of one-upmanship.

There’s minimal dialogue, with the focus being primarily on the duo’s dance and acrobatic skills and their comedy routines. What little dialogue there is needs to be revisited as it often doesn’t fit with the age of the performers.

Likewise, the use of slides and a video detract from the performance rather than enhance the action, although Audrey Lim is a laugh in the “Officise” exercise video clip.

As a situational comedy, the chuckles are steady but there needs to be a lot more humour. The graceful physical routines are spaced out too much to carry the show alone. That said, the duo work well together, and really shine when they tumble, fall, flip and dance around each other. Mitchell and Jackson’s choreography remains true to the scene rather than going off on its own tangent.

It’s an enjoyable piece that has the makings of a memorable piece.
