“When I was a child, we had a big library of books and there was a book about the history of fashion in there with costumes from the Elizabethan age and things like that,” author, fashion lover, stylist and owner of Circa Vintage boutique Nicole Jenkins reminisced.

“I was fascinated by things like that, I used to make rag dolls as a child and I would dress them up in Elizabethan and Victorian costumes that I had researched in the library, and that I had made out of little fabric scraps from my mum’s sewing box.”

This was the beginning of a fashion journey for Nicole, which has lead to two books, her 2010 hit book Love Vintage and newly released, Style is Eternal.

On the shelves this week, Style is Eternal is beautiful step-by-step guide to understanding and integrating fashion basics, classics and trends into a personalised signature look.

The book encourages and inspires ladies to dress both with confidence and creativity.

“What I wanted to do was create a book that is based on historical ideas of how to dress and what our grandmothers knew about how to get the most from their wardrobe,” Nicole said.

“How to put an outfit together, how to look after it, how to update things, how to adapt and personalised your style and I wanted to make that relevant to modern ladies who were shopping with what we have now.”

Nicole Jenkins shares her experience as a fashion buyer and stylist to navigate the essential additions to your wardrobe without breaking the bank, use accessories to create new outfits, convert your fashion faux pas into chic statements and travel with only hand luggage and still look classy.

Style is Eternal also divulges secrets of how to make the most of your body shape, combine classic staples with contemporary fashionable pieces, avoid those regrettable and expensive impulse buys, have a wardrobe that will cover all your work and lifestyle options and encloses a number of practical tips on looking after your clothes.

It is a beautiful book that oozes charm, heart, and passion from someone who loves what they do.

“Style is Eternal because it is timeless, it is the core of who you are and that is going to be there throughout your whole life just like your personality,” Nicole said.

“Enjoy fashion! And just have fun with it!”
