This show was marred by a truly dreadful sound mix, making it impossible to fairly judge the performance. Before anybody suggests that, perhaps, my age may have had something to do with my dissatisfaction and failure to appreciate music enjoyed by younger people, I should point out that one of Adelaide’s youngest critics walked out long before I had had enough, expressing his displeasure as he passed me.

All that could be heard was a thundering rumble, from the over-amplified bass, drowning everything else. The entire room vibrated constantly as the bass echoed at a painful level, obscuring the rest of the band. Hopefully, audience feedback from all of those who left early might have some effect before the next performance.

The little that could be heard suggested that this might have been a worthwhile performance, if only we could have heard it clearly.
