Nova and the Australian Government’s National Drugs Campaign last week revealed the Top 10 bands that will battle it out to win the national initiative I Am With The Band.

Russell Thomas from Kaos Management, News Limited Hits music journalist Cameron Adams, Nova’s Group Music Director Toni Pipicelli, Rock the Schools Senior Project Manager Neal Dennis and representative for the National Drugs Campaign, Amanda Wright, formed the judging panel.

Toni Pipicelli, Nova’s Group Music Director said, “The quality of this year’s entrants was so mind-blowing it was a huge task to narrow the list to 10. Discovering new and upcoming talent is a fun part of our job at Nova. I Am With The Band helps highlight that you don’t need to be signed to a major record company to be heard. These bands are performing locally and showing Australia every day how talented they are and that they love music. ”

The 10 finalists will perform in front of a live audience at a Nova gig in their State, during the voting stage, and will kick off a campaign to encourage people to register and vote for them at www.novafm.com.au. Anyone who votes has the chance to win $5000.

The winning band will be determined by popular vote, registered through www.novafm.com.au, and will score $10,000 cash, receive a mentoring and rehearsal session and studio time with Sony Music Entertainment, get airplay on Nova and perform with the Logitech Rock the Schools tour.

Voting closes on Wednesday 18 May and the winner will be announced on Friday 20 May 2011. For further details on I Am With The Band check out www.novafm.com.au

The National Drugs Campaign is a proud supporter of I Am With The Band, which is an ideal platform for educating young Australians about the risks and harms of illicit drug use. During the competition youth will be encouraged to ‘facefacts’ about ecstasy such as you never know what’s in it.
