Late last year, a large warehouse in the heart of Port Adelaide was transformed from empty space to a thriving cafe with Milledges Distillation quickly becoming the coffee haunt of choice for many locals in the area.
But for co-owner Bee Rich, this wasn’t the end of her vision. No, she saw potential not only in the warehouse itself but for the area of Port Adelaide as a whole, with the venue serving as a café by day and a live music venue and bar by night.
“Before, there wasn’t much in the Port is open past 10pm,” says Bee. “So, we set out to be the place you go after dinner and stay late. We’ve got a late license so you can expect it to be a bit of a party venue.”
And a party venue is exactly what it is. With live music each night from Thursday – Sunday, Milledges is breathing fresh new life into the evening scene in Adelaide’s iconic portside suburb.
From DJs to cover bands to BYO vinyl nights, the scene at Milledges is all-encompassing and truly has something for everyone looking for something a little bit different.
Alongside local beers and world-class spirits, Adrian’s own hand-crafted, small batch spirits are on offer and available to be purchased onsite or through the website.
The idea for Milledge’s began when Bee’s close family friend and gin maker, Adrian Galindo, needed a space for his expanding home distillery operation. Adrian saw the potential in the large space and roped in Bee to take it from drab to fab.
The large industrial space has been enhanced with exposed brick walls, visible roof structures and plants draped throughout, playing up to the warehouse’s original charm.
