Osteria Polpo has officially opened on East Terrace in the CBD, bringing traditional flavours straight from northern Italy to Adelaide’s CBD.
Serving up restaurant-style dishes in the Osteria, and a variety of small, snack-style bites perfect for in the Cicchetteria, Osteria Polpo is set to be your newest hot spot for authentic Italian food.
“If you go to the bars in Venice, you’ll find the cicchetti, which are very synonymous with Venice,” says Osteria Polpo owner, Paul Serafin.

The menu is set to feature northern Italian favourites including baccala, spaghetti with anchovy sauce, polenta, and sardines cured in vinegar. A personal favourite of Paul’s is the risotto with chicken liver.
“The traditional risotto with chicken livers is delicious. Amongst the traditional flavours we’ve definitely brought a modern twist. Things like the beetroot carpaccio and kangaroo tartare, are things we’re doing a bit different.”

Paul has a keen focus on the use of local ingredients and produce.
“There is an modern Australian influence in the food for sure. We will try to support local and use Australian ingredients as well. We’ve adapted a lot of the dishes, and are excited with to introduce the contemporary flavours into the home grown recipes.”
As for drinks, they’ll be sticking to classic Italian spritz, offering timeless favourites like a Negroni, and a variety of cocktail bases that will allow customers to tailor their drinks to their preferences.
Paul has quite the history within Adelaide’s hospitality scene, operating both the Flying Fig in North Adelaide and the sandwich chain Stax in the CBD, giving him valuable experience and insights into different aspects of the food and beverage business.
Drawing inspiration from Paul’s heritage, Osteria Polpo emerges as an exciting addition to Adelaide’s culinary scene, bringing the flavours of northern-Italy to the CBD streets.
“We’re located with beautiful views of the parklands, in a residential area. We’re just going to be a good local restaurant to go to, with authentic food and tasty drinks. The community has already welcomed us, so we’re excited to see whats in store.”
