FIRST LOOK: Our Boy Roy is serving up deli-style sandos and coffee on tap in Clarence Park

Our Boy Roy is the sister café to Semaphore’s High Tide Café and opened its doors last month serving up sandos, deli meats and brunch.

There’s a new kid on the block in Adelaide’s Clarence Park and its more than just a sando bar.

Our Boy Roy is the sister café to Semaphore’s High Tide Café, opened its doors at the end of last year in the space previously occupied by Rise and Grind on East Avenue.

Founded by Michael Cotton, it boasts broad appeal and convenience as a deli, café, providore and sando shop and can seat 100 people through both its indoor seatig and outdoor garden.

Specialising in panini and sandwiches, Our Boy Roy is quickly gaining a reputation for its hearty and generously sized meatball and sugo ciabattas and Chicago-style beef rolls.

Locals have been flocking to either grab them as a take away or to dine in, as the venue offers both casual and formal dining options, with benches for those wanting a quick sambo or a sit-down dining experience with table service.

Breakfast and brunch is also served with plum hotcakes and lemon myrtle sugar syrup, bacon and eggs, and other vegetarian options for those seeking healthier alternatives.

The coffee has been sourced from sustainability minded roaster Single O, who are based in Sydney, and is part of an exclusive deal. It’s available via a tap – you just fill your coffee cup up as if it’s a beer tap, saving you from having to wait around for a cappuccino or latte.

Then there’s the deli section offering freshly sliced meats, mortadella, eggs, fresh loaves of bread, bunches of flowers and lots more. The providore shelves are fully stocked too with relishes and jams from Drunken Sailor and Melbourne Bushfood, sauces and condiments from Pizzateca, gin mayo, brandy salted caramel and chocolates from The Sugar Man.

The outdoor space is also unique, as it used to be residential so its a decent size. Herbs and edible flowers are growing in the planter boxes for the chefs to utilise and there’s plenty of bench seating , tables and chairs and a large grassed area. It’s the ideal spot to relax on a warm summer’s day.

Our Boy Roy is located at 114 East Ave, Clarence Park. For more visit their Instagram page.
