Rustic Gourmet, renowned for its commitment to handmade, locally sourced food, has relocated one of its two venues.
Owner Katherine Nugent who has passionately championed the art of making ‘real food from scratch’, has moved its Rustic Gourmet Kent Town cafe to a new home at the Norwood Green Complex on Magill Road.
Nugent, reflecting on the essence of Rustic Gourmet, shared, “our journey began with a simple premise: to make real food from scratch, with great ingredients, local wherever possible. From our home catering origins to our retail adventure 10 years ago, it’s always been about quality and freshness.”
Its first location in Tusmore, quickly became a community staple. Known for its ever-changing menu of salads, tarts, cakes, and frittatas, Rustic Gourmet earned a reputation for freshness and quality.
“No cake sits there for five days in the fridge,” Kath quips.
In 2018, Rustic Gourmet expanded with a second site, which soon became the flagship location featuring a production kitchen. This move was not just about size but also about enhancing their offerings, including a licensed area and delicious take-home meals.
“We built a great following in the community, knowing most of our customers by name,” she says.
However, due to circumstances with their landlord, the decision to leave Kent Town was made. But it came with a silver lining.
“Norwood Green is fantastic. The location offers more thoroughfare and, more importantly, lots of parking. It’s a vibrant location, surrounded by complementary businesses like East End Cellars and Frankly Bagels,” Kath says.
The food selection includes everything from smashed avocado, served with poached eggs and halloumi, bacon and egg turkish rolls, and more. It’s also home to some Bird in Hand favourites, alongside breakfast go-tos like immune and cleanse juices, and berry smoothies.
The new Norwood Green development is a massive collection of townhouses and apartments on Magill Road melding landscaped green spaces with a vibrant offering for Adelaide’s inner-east.
“It’s exciting,” Kath shares, “We’re taking things up a notch, offering a contemporary twist while still reflecting our core values.”
In addition to their cafe offerings, Rustic Gourmet continues to provide catering services, ensuring that their creations can be enjoyed at events and gatherings.
