Tucked away in one of South Australia’s favourite seaside towns, a new hotspot for beauty, fashion, and self care has opened up, and it’s only a short stroll away from the beach. Introducing Studio 20 in Goolwa, a coastal retreat perfect for beauty services, luxury fashion and gifts, and soon, a juice bar.
The studio is home to a crew of talented professionals that specialise in helping shoppers prepare for events like weddings, formals, and photoshoots. As the brainchild of Lauren Parkinson, a beautician with more than 18 years of experience, Studio 20 has quickly become a popular destination for locals and visitors seeking makeovers, self-care, or relaxation.
The shop offers an array of services like makeup artistry, lash and brow treatments, spray tanning, manicures, pedicures, and massage therapy. Lauren is joined by Vanessa Young, an expert in lash and brow treatments and body contouring, as well as Mel Mortess, a remedial massage therapist.
“We wanted to create a space where people could get all their needs for a big event, but also a place to relax without feeling obligated to buy anything,” Lauren says.
“We’ve designed packages not just for brides, but for anyone needing to get ready for a big occasion,” Lauren says. Whether it’s pre-wedding beauty treatments or a full wedding-day makeover, Studio 20 provides everything needed to look and feel your best.
In addition to beauty services, Studio 20 has a boutique retail space showcasing resort-style fashion from local South Australian brands like Koli, Palm Collective, Jaase, and Sanctum. Their inclusive clothing catalogue features a wide range of different fits and sizes, offering trendy items for many different body types.
Studio 20 is also home to Mila Alexandra, a lifestyle brand created by Lauren before COVID-19. Initially offering kaftans, the brand has expanded to include body washes, perfumes, and other products. While currently on the back burner, Mila Alexandra continues to grow quietly and has been featured at the Adelaide Fashion Festival a number of times.
Looking ahead, Lauren will be opening Juice Me Up as a main feature of the studio. The juice bar will serve healthy snacks like jacket potatoes, prawn rolls, gluten-free treats, and hot cinnamon doughnuts. “We want it to be a fun, relaxing place to hang out,” she says. This would make Studio 20 even more of a community hub, where anyone can relax with something healthy to munch on.
Lauren previously ran a similar operation at Studio 15 in Christies Beach but relocated to Goolwa in the last 12 months to reinvest in the local community. “If I could make it in Christies Beach, I knew I could make it anywhere.”
The new location sponsors local events, such as the recent New Year’s Eve fireworks on Goolwa Bridge.
“Supporting the community that supports us is so important.”
Studio 20 is more than just a beauty salon, but is a haven where makeup, fashion, and wellness come together in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
From makeovers and fashion updates to simply relaxing by the beach, Goolwa’s hottest new business offers an unparalleled experience to address all your needs.
