Tamarind Modern Indian is a recent addition to the Mawson Lakes Boulevard, and it’s already proven to be a favourite among locals, serving up a huge variety of contemporary Indian dishes.
Their Chicken Tikka Masala is an aromatic blend of onion, tomatoes, capsicum and cream infused chicken pieces. Or perhaps you’re a Lamb Madras fan, in which case you’ll be drenched in the decadent flavours of curry leaf, coconut and mustard seed. And their Rogan Josh, with Kashmiri spices, tomato, fennel and ginger, is an absolute showstopper and a favourite amongst customers.

Tamarind is brought to you by chef Jwala Singh, co-owner of the award-winning Cinnamon Club restaurants, who spoke to us about his motivation in opening up the popular restaurant.
“I found that there was a real lack of authentic Indian restaurants in the northern suburbs, and thought this location was beautiful. So, I teamed up with botanic designer Markus Hammence to create a unique and vibrant atmosphere which really complements the lakeside view. In the evening it looks amazing,” says Singh.



Singh also knows that people are doing it financially tough at the moment, and was eager to ensure that his restaurant was as accessible as possible.
“The menu is budget-friendly. The prices are not high and it’s not going to hurt. We’re a community,” he says.
