A brand new coffee spot has opened its doors in the tight-knit community of Cheltenham, taking up residence in a stunning corner shop full of rich history.

With plenty of hospitality experience between them, owners Alice and Alex Perisic have opened their new coffee shop, Any Given Sunday in Cheltenham, excited to embark on this new journey that has been years in the making.

“We’ve both worked in hospitality for a long time now, and after leaving the industry we realised we really wanted to get back into coffee but do it our way,” Alex explained.

The pair watched the market for the perfect storefront and when they found their hidden gem on the corner of Croyden in Cheltenham they knew they had to jump on the opportunity, built in the ’60s this building’s unique charm was just what the business owners were looking for.

“The building is beautiful and we wanted to do it justice, focusing on exploring how to enhance the era of the building through our renovation was so exciting. By channelling those retro vibes throughout our store in the decorations like our panther statue, we feel we’ve been able to pay homage to the era in a new sort of way,” Alex explained.

Now fully transformed into a beautiful modern cafe and open for business, the corner building has years of history and local stories hidden within its walls that Alex and Alice found incredibly interesting.

Constructed in the ’60s, the cafe used to be a popular grocery store before becoming vacant for nearly 40 years, after hearing the shared stories of locals about the building, the owners knew they could bring it back to life again.

Bustling with customers both local and surrounding, their whirl-wind first week of business has shown the pair that all of their hard work has paid off, welcoming hundreds of people in their short time being opened.

“We wanted to focus on the inner-suburb feel and connecting with community members, creating an approachable and comfortable space that everyone can enjoy was paramount,”.

Taking a minimalistic-retro approach to the decor of the coffee shop, the partners didn’t want the new store to be overwhelming but rather inviting so that people and pets could come and enjoy a pocket of peace in their mornings.

“We’ve added features we think will benefit our local crowd like hooks to put your leash on so that your furry friends can join you on your morning coffee run, and a wide selection of fresh bites to stop by and grab on your way to work,” Alex explained.

The new coffee store will be serving local brews seven days a week as well as a range of fresh pastries delivered every morning, with the intention of expanding their menu as time progresses, this is certainly an exciting new spot to try out and keep your eye on.
