Retro lovers, a new vinyl bar called Wax just opened its doors in Franks Lane by hospitality moguls Penny Hospitality.
“We’ve been so successful since our doors opened last week on Friday. It’s been packed most nights with people enjoying vinyl, delicious cocktails and a boogie,” Lillian Wells from Penny Hospitality says.
The group is a young, creative team setting a new benchmark in Adelaide hospitality and breathing new life into spaces throughout the state. They’ve opened up well-known locations like Hindley Street Music Hall, Lion Arts Factory, Joe’s Henley Beach, West Oak Hotel and more.
The inspiration behind their new project, Wax Bar, stemmed from the hugely popular Her Bar in Melbourne.
Her Bar is a multi-faced drinking, dining and music venue located in a heritage-listed site which has strong ties to the Melbourne art scene. It sits on level five featuring an open-air oasis serving barbeque-driven, share-friendly Thai food and a complementary selection of natural wines and fruit-forward cocktails.
Wax Bar’s obvious draw card is their awesome vibe and great tunes with a focus on DJs using the classic vinyl records.
“We’re trying to hit that demographic that does’t want to go ‘clubbing’, but also doesn’t want to go home early,” Lillian says.
They’ll have a range of cool events on, plus upcoming DJs and music that’s sure to make your night out well worth it.
While vibing with the music, people have been sipping on a range of cocktails and mocktails including the classics plus those a little more fancy like Mango Daiquiris, Tropical Caprioskas and Watermelon Palomas.
The bar is located on level one in Franks Lane, in amongst the other awesome bars and restaurants in Adelaide’s East End. Notably, it sits above Paper Tiger – another Penny Hospitality venture – which is bringing Chin Chin-inspired asian fusion food to Rundle Street.
