Oakbank Easter Carnival Still In The Race

Over 135 years after its inception, Oakbank Easter Carnival is still bringing in the crowds with its classic charm and scenic backdrop.

The Oakbank Easter Carnival kicked off with a bang at 11.45am on Saturday the 7th of April boasting eight races, various trackside marquees and amusements for the kids.

Punters of all ages were not disappointed as they headed into the 'Punters Retreat Marquee.' Located north of the Derby stand, plenty of winnings, good drops and gourmet food awaited them.

Encore Catering group made sure there was plenty of food and wine all day of the highest quality local produce.

As the bugle called for the first race crowds built up along the track with a vibe not felt anywhere else on the field. Like a bolt of thunder the gorgeous thoroughbreds were seen for a split second as they stormed past in the 1400 metre race. Cellarmaster takes the win and the cheers roared across the ground.

The main race was left to the late afternoon with Tobouggie Nights taking the win in the 3250 metre steeplechase.

Fashion on the field for women were block colors with killer heels, understated hair and funky head pieces. For the men a sea of grey suits with statement sunglasses the standout accessory.

The event which began in 1876 still attracts young and old with or without families and is a safe way to enjoy the Easter break with loved ones on an historic course.
