Ondeen to host ‘A Musical Banquet’ with Adelaide Baroque this weekend

Ondeen is teaming up with Adelaide Baroque this Saturday for A Musical Banquet, a one-night event pairing a 75-minute open-air concert with a three-course seasonal feast.

In the Adelaide Hills, dining is supposed to be more than just a meal, it’s all about creating an experience shaped by sustainability, craftsmanship, and the rhythms of the seasons. And that’s exactly the ethos at the award-winning Ondeen. This August, they’re taking this to an entirely new level as they welcome Adelaide Baroque for a one-night-only celebration of timeless artistry, ‘A Musical Banquet’.

This Saturday, August 23rd from 5:30pm, guests are invited to get in on a feast that’s sure to delight all the senses. Here, exquisite food and enchanting music will come together. For $130 per person, the evening includes dinner and a show, making it an unmissable opportunity to experience Ondeen’s kitchen in a whole new light.

Led by Culinary Director Kane Pollard and Head Chef Julian Peek, Ondeen’s kitchen is rooted in thoughtful sustainability. Every dish tells the story of the Adelaide Hills, crafted from ingredients sourced locally, ethically, and seasonally. From foraged produce to carefully selected meats, the philosophy is simple, let the natural beauty of the land shine through with minimal intervention. The result is a menu that is refined and raw. And trust us, the food they create will not disappoint.

For this special evening, that same philosophy will be a part of the music too. They’ll be playing an intricate 75-minute open-air concert that highlights the beauty of 17th and 18th-century Europe. The performance will feature solos, duos, and trios, mixed in with poetry and readings from the era.

This is to be curated by Ben Dollman, one of Australia’s leading historical violinists. The performance will take place beneath the eaves of the pavilion, followed by a delicious three-course dinner in the restaurant.

“The Adelaide Baroque Quartet are one of Australia’s most loved musical groups, and Heather Croall of The Fringe offered Ondeen as a last-minute venue for their sold-out shows last March as they needed to find another venue quickly,” shared Deborah Kingsbury, Managing Director at Ondeen.

“We so loved the bartering that they wanted to produce similar events with Ondeen on a more regular basis. Adelaide Baroque are well-loved in music circles. Having toured extensively both overseas and within Australia, captivating audiences with their lively and stunning renditions of 17th and 18th-century works. After joining us at The Fringe earlier this year, they were keen to partner again – Ondeen’s acoustics and atmosphere are a natural fit for their performances.”

Expect a menu that celebrates the late winter harvest of the Adelaide Hills, paired with the creativity and signature craftsmanship Ondeen has become known for. Each dish is meticulously designed to complement the atmosphere of the evening, making it a true banquet of artistry and celebration.

“The concert will run for 75 minutes, after which guests will move into our restaurant for dinner, fires glowing, glasses poured, and a setting that makes the evening complete. Recognised as one of South Australia’s most celebrated restaurants, Ondeen was recently named in Gourmet Traveller’s Top 100 and is a national finalist for Best New Restaurant 2025.

“Dinner is a three-course seasonal showcase, crafted around provenance, generosity, and connection. The menu highlights the best of the Hills, paired with wines from outstanding local producers Jericho, Silver Lining, Turon, and Artis. It promises comfort, surprise, and artistry, a true celebration of flavour, craftsmanship, and community,” shared Deborah.
