Is mum tired of flowers and chocolates? Villagehood Australia are holding a Mother’s Day health and wellbeing event with spa and mental wellness treatments and a healthy brunch.
The market event will have mini massages, fashion styling sessions, beauty treatments like manicures, pedicures and hair and make-up styling. It’s an opportunity for mums to be completely self-indulgent and focus on themselves.
Pamper mum while supporting services for mothers experiencing post-natal depression. Villagehood Australia is a not-for-profit organisation that supports “the woman in every mother,” and they have a clear message for partners and children this Mother’s Day: Flowers are not going to cut it.
“After a trying 2020, which demanded more than ever from modern mums, we need something special this year,” says Villagehood Australia’s Founder Dinah Thomasset.
“Having been thrust into lockdowns and home-schooling and cut off from our support networks, mums are craving connection and community more than ever,” she says.
“We know that isolation and limited support are major risk factors for postnatal depression, and this is what we want to counter at Villagehood Australia. We provide a safe place for mothers to find connection and a village of support.”
In addition to hosting a regular mother’s group, Villagehood offers low-cost fitness and hobby classes, and an onsite creche, giving mums much-needed time to focus on their health and wellbeing.
“This is our chance to showcase our values and dedication to the wellbeing of mothers, while treating the mums in our community to the love and care they deserve. We’re offering massages, manicures, style sessions, makeup, hairstyling, inspiring guest speakers and a nutritiously delicious brunch to our wonderful guests,” says Thomasset.
Local MP and Shadow Minister for Human Services and vocal women’s welfare campaigner, Nat Cook, is one of the event’s guest speakers. It is believed that Cook will highlight the importance of women joining forces to advocate for a better reality for modern mothers, their families and communities.
Tickets are selling for $50 ($60 for non-members) and include mum being completely spoiled with healthy delicious food and beauty treatments such as manicures, pedicures and hair and make-up styling.
Every ticket sold will help Villagehood to expand their vital services across the state and subsidise membership costs for mothers experiencing hardship.
