A bar in Adelaide that quintessentially captures the New York vibe…. From the team that brought us the Botanic Bar, Golden Boy and the vertical hub of club activity in Rocket Rooftop Bar, Mr Kims and Electric Circus, plus house legend James Curd who has also jumped onboard, comes Oscar.
Adelaide’s hottest new spot is a little hard to find, but that is the point. It is for those who know where to find it. Set up in the space that was Downtown: HDCB on Hindley Street (what, no hotdogs?), diagonally opposite Rocket, there are two red strip lights and the outline of a door cut into a green wall. Hello, Oscar.
Once you find the space and enter you can see what all the fuss is about. Innovative, sophisticated, intimate and every bit the New York bar style that the owners were aiming for. This place has it going on! It has added something unique to the ever growing vibrancy of the West End.
Do you love a great cocktail? Oscar has you covered. With a seasonal cocktail menu that is inspired by the landmarks and culture of New York City – there are some seriously delicious options. From the 99 Roses, to the Nothing Soft Comes Out of the Bronx and the 88th and Lex, we can see ourselves making our way through every drink on the list to try them all out! Oh, did we mention that they also do an absolutely must have Espresso Martini? Yes, this place certainly is a must!
A place to enjoy and relax on a Friday night with an amazing drink in a little hideaway after you have finished work, enjoy escaping to some awesome tunes on the dance floor, or just as a place to start off a big night… This place is even open on a Sunday night from 8pm. Oh stop it Oscar, you are just showing off!
Oscar is a place for real music lovers. So much so that it even has its own recording studio, Oscar Nine Studios! You can actually see the 1 tonne mixing desk from the bar through the double glazed (and we assume soundproof) windows. But why a recording studio? Well the concept behind the studio was to create a hub for music engineers, producers and artists alike. A place of international standards where the great talent in Adelaide can get in there and create something that continues to put Adelaide on the world music map.
The studio is also home to one of Chicago’s finest, James Curd. The house legend now calls Adelaide home and also has his finger in the Oscar Bar/Oscar Nine Studios pie. When international stars visit they will have somewhere to crank out some great music, should they feel the need!
Oozing style, sophistication and offering an amazing venue for that perfect cocktail, we say, welcome to Adelaide Oscar!
Also, keep an ear out for some exciting releases coming from Oscar Nine Studios with tracks produced by James Curd and Johnny Castro from Yeah Boy coming soon.
