Our guide to the hottest events on this New Year’s Day

There’s some great New Year’s Day events happening in Adelaide, plus a stack of businesses will be open if you’re after a drink or a meal.

It’s almost time, Adelaide – 2022 is fast approaching and we’ve never been more excited for the positivity and refreshment that comes with a new year.

While some of us are planning a massive NYE to celebrate the end of this insane year, and the promise of a fresh start in 2022, some of us are all about January 1st, whether it’s finding the perfect hangover brunch, celebrating the new year in style, or catching up with friends.

We’ve compiled a quick and handy guide list of events and venues that will be celebrating big. Here’s our pick of where to eat, drink and party on New Year’s Day.

New Years Day at Bowden Brewing

Start 2022 off in the right way with Bowden Brewing! Come through from 12pm on Sunday 1st January for cold beers, live acoustic music from Josh Morphett, lamb and Ngeringa veg grilled over coals and our famous tacos all afternoon.

HNLY NYD Party

New seaside restaurant HNLY at Henley Beach is starting off the new year the right way with a loaded New Year’s eve and day party.

Located upstairs above Estia overlooking the vibing square and pristine shores, HNLY will be bringing the fun across both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

On December 31 HNLY will have a special Feed Me menu and a glass of Champagne Bollinger bubbles at midnight to reign in the new year.

As your back up the new years eve festivities, HNLY will be helping you recover with delicious food and pumping tunes on New Year’s Day.

DJ James Curd will be spinning tracks from 2pm until 8pm on January 1. Guests will be able to enjoy an indulgent feast which will be on offer on New Years Eve as well as New years day from 2pm until 5pm or for a dinner sitting from 5pm until 8pm.

The menu will offer starters including with Kangaroo Island Oysters, seconds including Butternut pumpkin ravioli, thirds with barramundi or lamp rump and a mocha tart or pavlova to finish.

With a special Feed Me menu exclusive for the evening and a glass of Champagne Bollinger bubbles at midnight, we have your night covered!

Wines and Good Times New Year’s Day – MOVED TO GOOD FRIDAY, APRIL 15

Wine & Good Times has been cancelled for New Year’s Day, and moved to Easter. Your current tickets will be valid for this event.

Dine at Fino Vino

Summer sessions

Summer Sessions takes place every weekend and on public holidays, running right through summer into next year.

It provides a vibrant garden party for all who dwell over to Schomburgk Pavillion at the Adelaide Botanic Gardens.

Hidden right in the centre of the Botanic Gardens, Summer Sessions is found between the The Diggers Club Garden Shop and Café Fibonacci. Summer Sessions expands into the Botanic Gardens with a popup bar, amazing food menu, live music and cool vibes.

The popup bar pours local wines, beer and spirits and shakes up delicious cocktails. Food includes delicious beef sliders and there’s always has music to go along with the vibrant atmosphere.

Prancing Pony CBD Pop-Up

The Pony is out of the bag… And coming to Rundle Street! 

Set to open in Adelaide’s East End this Saturday the award-winning craft breweries pop-up will be open all summer for lunch, dinner, and evening drinks. 

They will be bringing their dishes created “from the beer up” to match the brews. Featuring fresh local ingredients, you can enjoy small bites, burgers, regional tasting platters and a family-friendly fare. 

If it’s a quiet drink and a small bite, or a long lunch with all the trimmings, the Pony has your back.

Semaphore Summer Carnival

Semaphore Summer Carnival has returned for another season and will be open daily from 11 am until January 30 for school holiday fun!

This seaside spot located along the Semaphore Esplanade is bursting with entertainment for the kids, including thrill rides, dodgem cars and so much more.

Moonlight Cinema 

One of Adelaide’s favourite outdoor cinema is kicking off this weekend bringing an epic summer of films and picnics with friends and family. After a long and chilly winter in hibernation, Moonlight Cinema is making the most of the balmy season to come with its open-air cinema and a stellar line-up of films. 

It will be held at Rymill Park on the lawns East of Colada Lakeside Kiosk and will run until January 16, 2022. Moonlight Cinema is the perfect place for date night, picnics with friends, fun for the family and its dog friendly too with a wide range of movies from comedy, to Christmas and romance to children’s films.
