Our Mob 2011: Call for entries and Curatorial Mentorship

Our Mob: A Statewide Celebration Of South Australian Indigenous Art showcases the diversity of Australian Indigenous art from around South Australia.

Now in its sixth year, Our Mob is once again calling for entries. Artist submission is free and entry forms are available for download from Adelaide Festival Centre website. Ananguku Arts will also be holding ‘Our Mob’ information sessions for regional centres across the state to assist artists with applications. Details and locations of these sessions will be released soon. Young South Australian Indigenous Artists under the age of 18 are also encouraged to apply to be part of Our Young Mob.

Entry for selection is free and is open to all Aboriginal artists living and working in South Australia. All works of art are offered for sale with the majority of money being returned to the artists and their communities. A small commission from the sales is used to help run the exhibition and workshops.

Adelaide Festival Centre is also extremely excited to announce that applications are open for South Australian Indigenous artists/arts workers who are interested in a 12 week mentorship program to assist with organising and curating the 6th Our Mob exhibition at the Adelaide Festival Centre. The successful applicant will be engaged in fulltime employment for twelve weeks and will also be assigned a living away from home allowance.

This exciting professional development opportunity for South Australian Indigenous artists and arts workers is a u! nique opportunity that has been made possible with funding from the Australian Government National Arts and Craft Industry Support program and Arts SA. Expressions of Interest close on Friday 2 September, 2011. A panel made up of representatives from Adelaide Festival Centre, Ananguku Arts and Arts SA will be responsible for selecting the successful applicant.

The exhibition was founded by Adelaide Festival Centre in 2005 in partnership with Ananguku Arts, through the SA Statewide Indigenous Community Arts Development Project (SICAD), and Country Arts SA. Our Mob remains South Australia’s key exhibition dedicated to Indigenous artists.

Interested applicants can download an Expression of Interest form from www.adelaidefestivalcentre.com.au/afc/whats‐on/visual.php.
