Kicking off into five days of wine, celebration, and entertainment in April is the return of the much loved regional wine festival – Barossa Vintage Festival.
SA and the region’s road to recovery has been one fraught with difficulties, and in a year where major events and festivals are being cancelled, it’s good to see the return of one such celebration.
Featuring over 75 events across the Barossa Valley, the festival is showcasing the brilliant food, wine and art scene in the region.
Whether you’re interested in just a day trip or the entire festival, you can go behind the scenes, indulge in long lunches, master the art of gin making, or even channel your inner creative with hands on art and craft classes.
The slew of free activities, events, and experiences for the whole family make it a perfect outing during the school holidays.

Barossa Makers’ Table Series (Barossa Visitor Centre)
A series of ‘hands-on’ workshops designed to introduce you to the talents of the Barossa’s local makers. Immerse yourself in the Barossa’s food culture with a honey biscut decorating class and fruit preserving workshop; or channel your inner creative with painting, clay play and natural skincare workshops. There’s a place at the Barossa Makers’ Table for everyone.
A rare opportunity to meet and chat with 12 Barossa winemaking Legends Behind the Barrel. Taste unique single barrel samples from some of the region’s greatest winemakers including Dave Lehmann (David Franz), Adrian Hoffman (North by Adrian Hoffman), Mark Madar (Gumpara Wines), Andrew Seppelt (Hayes Family Wines), Caitlin Angas (Hutton Vale), Phil Lehmann (Max and Me), John Hughes (Rieslingfreak), Bernie Kaeding (Rojomoma), Stuart Bourne (Soul Growers) and Tim Smith (Tim Smith Wines). This event is ‘Barossa winemaking royalty’ delivering an exceptional tasting experience no wine lover should miss.
Because you can’t travel to Bavaria for Oktoberfest, Rehn Bier are bringing Oktoberfest to you, with a Barossa twist. Celebrate Oktoberfest ‘Barossa style’ with a traditional ‘bierhalle’ trestle seating, a delicious German lunch, live Oompah music and authentic German style beers as the Rehn Bier brewhouse is transformed into a little piece of Bavaria for three days only! Tickets include a souvenir stein (plus your first fill is free), a two-course lunch and entertainment.
Discover the magic of Marananga in a collaboration of Barossa’ finest producers, Greenock Creek Wines, Seppeltsfield Road Distillers and Two Hands Wines. Explore a Barossa gem by foot to discover that ‘Old’s Cool, New’s Cool!’ at three unique venues within easy meandering distance in their home of Marananga. A curated walking tour through picturesque Marananga, guests will enjoy a guided movable feast, with tasting experiences of hand-crafted wines and gin paired with local artisan delights.
Vasse Virgin’s ultimate sensory experience entices you to tap into your creative side as you explore the parallels between taste and smell. Enjoy a tasting of three wines and gin from Seppeltsfield Wines and Seppeltsfield Road Distillers, and let the tasting notes inspire your very own perfume or cologne creation. Your unique ‘tasting notes’ blend/signature scent will be bottled for you to take home.
Escape into the simpler times and celebrate the history of the Roaring 20s in 2020 as Lambert Estate is transformed into the Barossa’s own Speakeasy! Dust off your dance shoes, embrace your inner flapper, put on your best hat and enjoy a night of live jazz, culinary delights, specialty cocktails and Lambert Estate award-winning wines.

Channel your inner creativity while sipping wine! What a way to spend an afternoon at Thorn-Clarke. Taste your way through award winning wines while painting a masterpiece of your own , guided by a visual arts instructor. No artistic experience required, just a sense of fun and love of wine and the best part … the best creation (as judged by the Thorn-Clarke crew) will have their art displayed on a limited edition Thorn-Clarke label.
Partial to a G&T? Always dreamt about creating your own special blend using botanicals? Well this is your chance, thanks to the Barossa Gin School. Craft your own vintage 2021 shiraz gin from scratch as you learn from the master himself, Brett Durand. You’ll be supplied with everything you need from a benchtop still, shiraz grapes and clean spirit … you just bring the creativity. After creating shiraz gin, sit back, relax and enjoy a three-course lunch with a glass or two of local wine while your gin distils before leaving with a bottle of your very own signature gin.
Barossa’s newest accommodation, the French inspired farmhouse, Le Mas Barossa is delivering effortless French hospitality and providing dining as it should be … fresh and authentic with heart warming dishes enjoyed as an essential part of life.
