In an effort to ensure the safety and efficiency of the rail network, the Outer Harbor and Grange rail lines in Adelaide will undergo temporary closures for maintenance works. The closures are scheduled for two weekends in June, allowing necessary improvements to be carried out.
The first closure will take place from the first service on Sunday, June 11, until the last service on the public holiday Monday, June 12, 2023. Normal services will resume from the first service on Tuesday, June 13. The second closure will occur from the first service on Saturday, June 17, until the last service on Sunday, June 18, 2023. Services will resume as usual from the first service on Monday, June 19.
During the closures, substitute buses will be available to transport passengers between Adelaide Railway Station and Outer Harbor and Grange Railway stations. These buses will operate in accordance with the regular train timetable. It is important to note that trains on the Seaford, Flinders, Gawler, and Belair lines will continue to run according to their normal schedules.
The decision to temporarily close the rail lines was made to ensure the safety of workers and passengers, as certain maintenance tasks cannot be carried out while trains are in operation along the rail corridor. By scheduling the closures on weekends with no major events, the impact on commuters is expected to be minimized.
In conjunction with the rail line closures, the Woodville Road level crossing at Woodville will also be temporarily closed to facilitate works within the dual carriageway. Road users will be guided with appropriate signage and advised of alternative routes via Kilkenny Road or Cheltenham Parade. Adelaide Metro bus routes 100 (Arndale to Glen Osmond Road) and 300 (Suburban Connector) will be detoured via Cheltenham Parade, while the substitute buses for the Outer Harbor and Grange lines will take a detour via Port Road.
The Department responsible for these maintenance works apologizes for any inconvenience caused and expresses gratitude for the understanding and patience of commuters during this period. To stay updated on the latest information regarding timetables and plan their trips accordingly, passengers are encouraged to visit the Adelaide Metro website at www.adelaidemetro.com.au, where they can access real-time timetables and use the journey planner.

The temporary closures and maintenance works are vital for ensuring the continued safe and reliable operation of the rail network. By investing in maintenance and improvements, the authorities aim to provide commuters with an enhanced travel experience once services resume.
