Oz Comic-Con Wants You

Organisers of first-time event Oz Comic-Con (www.ozcomiccon.com) DCA Enterprises, have put a call out on their website for volunteers to take part in the debut event, set to launch in Adelaide on Saturday March 31 and Sunday April 1, 2012 – Goyder Pavilion, Adelaide Showgrounds – before moving onto Melbourne next June.

Presenting an exciting opportunity for the local Adelaide community to get involved – the call out urges “enthusiastic and helpful people” (over the age of 16) to volunteer for what is bound to be a spectacular event for Adelaide.

DCA Enterprises Director Carissa Avenhouse believes that getting involved in an event of this kind is a fantastic stepping-stone into the industry. “Not only will Oz Comic-Con look great on the CV, but it presents a unique opportunity to meet new people, learn new skills and be part of something big”, said Avenhouse.

According to the Oz Comic-Con website, some of the benefits of volunteering include; free entry to the event, complimentary autographs from selected guests in attendance, lunch provided on the days you work and a warm welcome into the Oz Comic-Con community.

Over two days, Oz Comic-Con Adelaide will feature international and local film and TV stars including; Disney Legend Bill Farmer (the voice of Goofy and Pluto, among others)Jewel Staite (Firefly, Serenity, Stargate Atlantis), Teryl Rothery (Stargate SG1), Aussie's Gigi Edgley (Farscape, Rescue: Special Ops) and Nicola Scott (Teen Titans, Birds of Prey, JSA, Secret Six) – as well as cult actors Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus (The Boondock Saints)Jonathan Frakes (Star Trek: The Next Generation), Stewart McKenny(Super Friends, Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures) and many more guests to be announced shortly.

Oz Comic-Con will feature multi-genre content from across the spectrum; from film and television stars to comic book and anime artists, gaming demonstrations and Cosplay competitions, to portfolio reviews, creative workshops and master classes. Oz Comic-Con will celebrate and educate; a place for the Adelaide community to come and share their love of pop-culture, get up close and personal with celebrities, enter contests to win fantastic prizes, or pick up tips from professionals on how to break into the industry. And who wouldn’t want to be part of that?

The cutoff for volunteers to apply is two weeks prior to the event – Saturday March 17, 2012.
