This October, OzHarvest is teaming up with top chefs, business leaders, and culinary icons for their flagship fundraiser, the CEO CookOff.
On Tuesday, October 28th, OzHarvest’s Hindmarsh warehouse will be transformed into a kitchen where the normal rules are flipped. Executives and entrepreneurs will swap their business casual for chef whites, rolling up their sleeves to cook gourmet meals under the guidance of some of the country’s most celebrated chefs. And once the cooking is done, all of the creations will be shared with guests from OzHarvest-supported charities.

This is the first time we’ll see this event in Adelaide, and it will feature acclaimed names like the Parwana Afghan Kitchen team and Sharon Winsor from Indigiearth. Plus, local leaders, including Adelaide Oval CEO Nick Addison, Olympic swimmer Matt Temple, French-Australian Chamber of Commerce SA Head Florence Masters, GM Suez Wafaa Khalifi and Beach Energy CEO Brett Woods, will all be in attendance. Nick says the event is about making a difference where it counts. “I’m taking part in OzHarvest’s CEO CookOff this October to cook meals and raise crucial funds to feed people in need in my local community. With the cost of living increasing, the demand for food relief in Australia is at an all-time high as people struggle to make ends meet.”

OzHarvest State Manager Damian Scanlon shared his excitement about finally bringing the event to Adelaide, which joins seven other cities around the country in hosting CookOffs this year. “With Australia facing a growing food crisis — over 3.4 million households are struggling to put food on the table — supporting our cause is more important than ever. CEO CookOff® is a unique experience where leaders step out of their comfort zones to cook alongside world-class chefs, and break bread with special guests from the charities OzHarvest serves. The magic of this event is when you sit down, share a meal and have a conversation with someone, knowing you’re helping put food on their table—it has a profound impact.”
Since launching in 2012, the CEO CookOff has raised funds that helped deliver more than 16 million meals to people in need. Every dollar raised equals two meals, and this year, the national target is to provide an incredible two million meals.

The Adelaide event follows on from the success of OzHarvest’s first free supermarket, which opened in Hindmarsh in the middle of last year, in response to the cost-of-living crisis. In its first year of operation, the store has already supplied more than 340,000 meals to South Australians.
