Etsy’s annual Craft Party celebration of meeting and making, is back in 2015 with a new theme and double the dates for its biggest year yet.

On Friday 5 and Saturday 6 June, people around Australia and the world will come together to turn paper into beautiful works of art in exploration of this year’s Craft Party theme, Kaleidoscope: Paper Taking Shape. It will mark the sixth annual Craft Party celebration organised by Etsy.com, the online marketplace for handmade and vintage goods.

As well as flagship Craft Party events held in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide, communities are invited to come together and organise their own local Craft Parties wherever they may be in Australia. In celebration of the joy of community and crafting, Etsy is encouraging everyone from seasoned crafters to first-timers to bring their creative ideas and get involved by attending local Craft Party events or hosting their own.

Adelaidians can get involved in the Craft Party action at the Flinders Street Market on Saturday 6 June.

Helen Souness, Etsy Managing Director for Australia and Asia, said this year’s Craft Party theme draws on many elements of the Etsy community.

“Kaleidoscopes represent many individual pieces coming together to create something beautiful which is much like Etsy itself where people come together to make, buy and sell unique goods across Australia and around the world.”

According to Helen, organising a Craft Party is a great way to connect with your community in new and creative ways.

“Craft Party celebrations in 2014 brought more than 8,500 people together at hundreds of events around the world to explore the fun and creativity inherent in crafting. We’re hoping to see more of these community connections created through this year’s Craft Parties around Australia.”
