Paracombe Wines has been awarded Best Producer (over 100 tonnes) at the 2021 Adelaide Hills Wine Show.
Receiving an unprecedented tally of 20 medals at the show, the culmination of awards meant that the prestigious hills winery was handed the top spot, with around 630 various Adelaide Hills wines reviewed from across the region.
Winning a total of six gold, two silver and twelve bronze medals for their range of red and white varieties, owner and founder Kathy Drogemuller says this recognition is a true celebration of their wines and the ancient grounds of which they come from.
“But importantly our success is collective and made possible by the passion, hard work and complete commitment of all our dedicated Paracombe team and specialist growers to make extraordinary wine”, Kathy says.
The Adelaide Hills Wine Show demonstrates the region’s remarkable diversity, and how the pioneering and boundary-pushing philosophy of its winemakers has evolved.
Established in 1997, the awards were crated to recognise and reward the region’s winemakers and grape-growers for the quality of their wines in over 20 categories, with a judging team of 16 industry experts reviewing a range of wines from the region.
Paracombe was established nearly 40 years ago in 1983 by Kathy and Paul Drogemuller when they bought an old dairy farm following the Ash Wednesday bushfires.
Fast-forward to today, and the pair have created a successful family-owned business, with a rightfully earned reputation for producing a broad portfolio of wines from aromatic whites through to rich, well balanced reds.
