Parade boutique launches online community marketplace to support SA businesses

The Norwood-based home and garden store is establishing an online marketplace for local creators to sell their products. See if you can feature your work!

South Aussies are a creative bunch. Home-based businesses, ‘passion projects’ and ‘side hustles’ are becoming very common for people trying to diversify their income – especially in COVID times!

If this sounds like you and you’re struggling to bring your projects and brands to a larger market, Prasads Home and Garden (Prasads) has just the solution for you.

Prasads, formerly known as Hobby Home and Garden, is one of Adelaide’s premier home and garden store, selling everything from pots and planters to furniture and pet accessories.

The Norwood-based store is now introducing the Prasads Marketplace, where small businesses can now sell their own products from the Prasads website.

Prasads Owner Abel Prasad says the initiative gives small businesses the opportunity to get discovered by an Australia-wide online audience, without the hassle of paying for and managing an online store.

“We have so many incredible designers, producers and innovators in SA. I want to give them a platform to showcase and sell their products easily,” said Abel.

Abel is cultivating a group of SA small businesses to promote to Australian (and eventually international) audiences. So far, the community’s response to the Prasads Marketplace has been overwhelmingly positive.

“Everyone is loving the idea of it. They’re seeing it as the easy way to get online and sell. It’s still in its infancy, but it will grow quickly. I encourage anyone out there with their own passion project to get in touch and see how we can sell their product Australia-wide,” said Abel.

Some businesses that have joined the already include Trevena (swimwear/active wear) and Focus Planting Australia’s GrowWell™ gardening technology.

To be a part of the Prasads Marketplace, applicants must undergo a basic screening process to determine if your business meets the Prasads eligibility criteria and ethos. Find out if you’re eligible here.

If you want to check out Prasads Home and Garden in the flesh, it’s open six days a week from 9am onwards, closing at 5pm weekdays and 3pm on Saturday. Closed on Sundays.

You can find Prasads Home and Garden at 30 Beulah Road, Norwood SA 5067.
