Patritti Wines’ historic winery has been operating from the now urban suburb of Dover Gardens since 1926, with the cellar door residing in its current location since 1970s.
Undergoing a multitude of renovations, each one better than the last, has made Patritti a destination amongst the exclusive list of city cellar doors.
However, when faced with COVID-19 restrictions that required all tastings to be seated, the Patritti team encountered their first problem.
While their previous renovation in 2006, where the framing, shelves, and bar were refit with the Jarrah timber from old wine vats, was still looking fresh, it only allowed for stand up ‘belly at the bar’ style tastings.
This proved to be enough incentive for the team to buckle down and embark on some big changes in the cellar door.
The Jarrah bar, which was the piece de resistance of the cellar door has been shortened. The team didn’t waste this prized material by creating a stunning freestanding table.
To complement the extra space, you will find cafe style tables and chairs which are readily adjusted for groups of different sizes.
The shelves have also been remodelled with the addition of a TV that rotates through images of the vineyards in McLaren Vale and around South Australia.
To make the most of their urban location and impending warmer weather, they have created an outdoor seated section with timber screening and outdoor heating.
The cellar door experience has also upped the ante with new structured tasting flights of their premium wine ranges.
Notably including their first ever James Halliday 98 point rated wine, their newly released Rare Fortified Chardonnay.
Their Merchant Series Tasting, and Family Range Tasting experiences are now available at the cellar door.
