Paul McCartney and Wings – One Night Only

Wings Over AmericaOne of the biggest names in music history, Paul McCartney, will hit the big screen for one night only with the stunning concert film, Rockshow: From the Wings Over America Tour on Thursday 16 May at the Marion Event Cinemas.

Featuring digitally re-mastered audio and video, the film shows this classic rock band as they traverse North America during their 1976 tour. Originally released in 1980 – and even then, only once – Rockshow features 30 Wings songs from four concerts of the tour: New York, May 25 (four songs); Seattle, Washington, June 10 (five songs); Los Angeles, California, June 22 (15 songs); and Los Angeles, California, June 23 (six songs).

This was part of the Wings Over the World Tour that also spawned the triple live album Wings Over America. The updated version of the film includes a pre-recorded 12-minute interview with Paul McCartney that will be exclusive to cinema audiences.

Wings (also known as Paul McCartney & Wings) were a British rock group formed in 1971 by Paul McCartney with his wife Linda McCartney, session drummer Denny Seiwell and former Moody Blues guitarist Denny Laine. Wings had 12 top 10 singles (including one No. 1) in the United Kingdom and 14 top 10 singles (including six No. 1’s) in the United States. All 23 singles released by Wings reached the US top 40, and one double-sided single, “Junior’s Farm”/”Sally G”, reached the top 40 with each side. Of the nine albums released by Wings, all went top 10 in either the UK or the US, with five consecutive albums topping the US charts.

The film will screen at 6.30pm on Thursday 16 May at Event Cinemas Marion. Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased online at www.eventcinemas.com.au or at the cinema box office.
