Overlooking the beautiful Clare Valley is the Paulett Wines cellar door, which, other than its incredible views, also has a spectacular array of wines AND food on offer.
Over the recent break (let’s call it a hibernation period), they were busy with some modifications on the venue, and have now reopened a shiny refurbished cellar door & cafe for your visiting pleasure.
Visitors to Paulett Wines will now get to enjoy the newly created Cellar Door Wine Experiences which are either straight up wine tastings, or if you’re feeling like wowing your taste buds, choose your 5 wines and they will match them with some clever and delicious morsels from their Bush DeVine kitchen.
For those wanting a whole meal with their wine, (and look at the photos below – why wouldn’t you?!!) they will be updating the restaurant menu daily depending on what’s fresh and fabulous.
The cellar door’s Bush DeVine Café has a menu inspired from native Australian ingredients, with some featuring in the adjacent bush food garden.
Head Chef Thomas Erkelenz was welcomed to the team in April 2019 and he has continued to showcase these amazing and versatile ingredients.
Thomas’s style of food can be summed up as ‘less is more’ with a focus on creating well structured, intelligent dishes that try to highlight the best qualities of the ingredient and always drawing heavily on what is in season and a strong focus on technical cookery both in a modern and traditional sense. Thomas is continuing to develop menus that incorporate native Australian ingredients in a Modern Australian context, and foraging from the surrounding country wherever possible.
Chief Winemaker and Proprietor, Neil Paulett, has described the transformation of cellar door to incorporate a dining experience as a “dream come true”. The Clare Valley has an enviable reputation world-wide for quality wines and more recently has become a burgeoning haven for food and wine experiences. “We are enjoying being an integral part of this force”.
