Penfolds release ultra-premium g5 Grange blend

Penfolds have levelled up their Grange once again. The announcement of Penfolds g5 Grange has left devotees with good and bad news.

The coming together of five vintages of Grange makes up Penfolds latest release blend, that has wine devotees eagerly anticipating its release.

Dubbed the Penfolds g5 Grange, its launch brings with it good and bad news.

The good news is that the luxury winery’s newest release, the monumental g5 which includes five vintages of grange in one bottle, has been released today.

The bad news is that there’s not many around.

Given there are just 2200 bottles of the g5 in existence, priced at $3500 each, getting your hands on one will be very special.

The wine is the final release in the ‘g’ series trio – following the highly successful launch of Penfolds g3 and g4 in 2017 and 2020 respectively.

The Penfolds g5 blend energetically entwines Grange DNA from the exceptional 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018 vintages, to create a completely unique expression of Penfolds flagship.

Penfolds Chief Winemaker, Peter Gago says true collectors will soon be counting a full set of the ‘G’ series Grange, but given the limited range and allocations to various markets around the world, collectors will need to get in quick.

In a poetic note, the release of Penfolds g5 coincides with Grange’s 70th anniversary year. After seventy years of unbroken vintage releases, Grange, a South Australian heritage icon, is one the world’s most collected wines, known for its Australian identity, consistency and proven aging potential.

The much-awaited 2018 Grange will be released in August 2022, adding further mystery to the Penfolds g5.

Penfolds Grange is the pinnacle of wine drinking aspirations. For those with a South Australian Wine Bucket list, Penfolds g5 is a MUST.

Expressions of interest are now open on the Penfolds website.
