Personalised pickets up for grabs at Port Adelaide’s Alberton Oval

Port Adelaide Football Club invites fans to be a part of Alberton Oval’s major revamp by having their names inscribed on new picket fences, celebrating community and club history together.

The Port Adelaide Football Club is set to make significant changes to the Alberton Oval, aiming to create one of Australia’s premier boutique stadiums for both AFL and AFLW games. This revamp focuses on not only enhancing the sporting facilities but also on fostering community involvement in various sports and recreational activities at the multi-use precinct.

A key feature of this ongoing enhancement involves the heart of the club, its supporters. Building on a tradition started over two decades ago, where fans had the opportunity to have their names on the fence pickets, the club is offering an additional round of pickets for purchase. This allows fans to permanently record their support in the form of a personal inscription at the stadium.

Tom Jonas, a retired former captain of the Port Adelaide Football Club, spoke the importance of this initiative, saying “Alberton Oval is a very special place. As players, we have shared many special moments here with family and friends, and this opportunity is for the fans to now have their own name celebrated at Alberton.”

This unique campaign serves as a homage to the unwavering support from members, fans, and the corporate sector. Their support is vital for the club as it seeks to advance the redevelopment of Alberton Oval and enhance community services.

Fans can choose from various pickets starting from $250. These contributions are tax-deductible and the range includes standard pickets for both members and non-members, premium pickets, of which only seven remain, and corporate pickets. Each category offers distinct recognitions in line with the level of contribution.

Aside from the financial aspect, each supporter who donates will be recognized with a plaque bearing their name on the new picket fence, to remain for the next ten years.
