Peter Helliar: Snazzy – 2012 Adelaide Fringe

Presented by Token Events
Reviewed 29th Feb. 2012

As a self-described “footy loving boy from the suburbs” Mr Helliar packs a hell of a lot more into a show than anyone has a right to deserve.

From the beginning of this too fast-flying hour, Peter Helliar has the audience in the palm of his hand or, as the audience might flatter itself to think, in the confidence of this intelligent humorous man of the people. With wickedly funny digs at almost everyone, which the clever comedian brings home and causes no offence to anybody by turning into self-parody, he covers the foibles of mainstream family orientated culture.

I’m not surprised that he has been a professional comedian for seventeen years. I’m only surprised that he hasn’t made it to Prime Minister yet. His success is due partly to sheer professionalism, partly charm and partly because he is so bloody funny, but mainly because he is someone we all recognise; a mate.
