Popular West End café, Peter Rabbit, is teaming up with Mercury CX to put on a magical street cinema event unlike anything we’ve seen before.

Be wined and dined by little inner city oasis, while watching 90s cult romantic comedy classic Reality Bites.

Reality Bites follows Lelaina (Winona Ryder), an aspiring videographer who makes a documentary about the disenchanted lives of her friends and roommates. Featuring Ethan Hawke and Ben Stiller, the film talks about the challenging career and lifestyle choices Generation X faced in the early 90s.

Directed by Stiller (well before his Meet the Fockers days), the film has been singled out as one of the films that most accurately captured the spirit of the early 90s grunge scene among young adults.

Peter Rabbit – which is now in its sixth year of running as a café, bar and function space – is thrilled to be holding this event and continuing to reactive the West End of town.

“Since opening we’ve always wanted to host an epic event on Liverpool Street,” said one of the owners of Peter Rabbit, Jack Nelligan. “Street cinema under the stars fits our vibe so well and we’re looking forward to welcoming people to our corner of the West End to enjoy a few drinks, graze on gourmet cheese platters and relax into the Easter long weekend watching one of our fav classics – Reality Bites.”

Guests will need to bring their own blankets (or even Oodies), but the Peter Rabbit crew will take care of the rest. Add on a beer or wine to your ticket, or make the event particularly special with the “VIP Experience”.

The VIP experience includes two tickets, including a bottle of wine and one of Peter Rabbit’s infamous gourmet cheese and charcuterie boards to share.

The movie is being shown in conjunction with Mercury CX’s Cinematheque program which is celebrating 30 years of the Mercury Cinema in 2022.

“Mercury Cinema is the home of Adelaide’s art house cinema scene and we’re thrilled to be partnering with Peter Rabbit to give audiences a taste of the kind of great films we screen all year round,” said Mercury CX CEO, Karena Slaninka.

To celebrate the Peter Rabbit x Mercury CX collaboration, Mercury will be offering one lucky attendee a Mercury Membership, which includes three complimentary tickets to Mercury Cinema screening programs.

This event will undoubtedly be a perfect way to kick off your Easter long weekend with friends and family. Tickets are limited so book in your deck chair or bean bag lounge to avoid disappointment!
