Phlegm Fatale

Amy Bodossian presents PHLEGM FATALE

Step into the obsessional confessional of one of Australia’s most vulnerable and provocative cabaret

performers.

Fresh from a sell-out Adelaide Fringe season and an appearance on ABC’s Spicks and Specks last year, Green Room Award nominee, Amy Bodossian, returns to her hometown to blow your mind…and her nose! If you missed her raw and racy one woman show, ‘Phlegm Fatale’ at this year’s Adelaide Fringe, do not fear. She’s bringing it back for the Cabaret Fringe for 3 SHOWS ONLY! In ‘Phlegm Fatale’, this spoken word chanteuse combines original blues, ballads, poetry and comedy for an evening of unforgettably intimate story telling.

‘Pure genius.’- The Scotsman

After many successful years performing as an absurd character comedian, spoken word artist, and cabaret singer at sell-out festivals across Australia, this critically acclaimed performer brings it all together in this memorable performance. ‘Phlegm Fatale’ is not just music or spoken word, it is not solely cabaret or comedy. It is all of this and then some.

‘Bodossian’s trippy, dippy beat poetry – brilliantly underscored by musician Paul Buckley on haunting clarinet, piano, guitar and foot percussion – is a constantly surprising delight. She seamlessly segues into a smoky torch singer, straddling the lines between satire and serious art, sweetness and obscenity, sexiness and gawkiness. **** 1/2’ – The Advertiser

Come and lose yourself in Miss Bodossian’s soup of songs and poems about domestic bliss, misadventures with lovers, the loss of childhood and the disillusionment of this working world. Smile and sigh as she quips her way through numerous anecdotes in true cabaret style, with a highly poetic twist, and with all original material.

‘Entrancing. The poem about childhood, would speak straight to that inner child that resides in the soul of any person who grew up in Australia., (and) the original song about her childhood toy Clowny was utterly beautiful and heart wrenching.’ –Stage Whispers

‘She is often confronting, sometimes poignant, occasionally erotic, whilst empowering the women in the audience and illuminating the men.’ – Barry Lenny, Glam Adelaide

‘So go along and have yourself a (phlegm) ball.’- The Advertiser.

‘Illuminating. She simply lit up the stage.’ – The Advertiser.

Linger, laugh, lament…and don’t forget to bring a hanky.
