One of the most powerful displays of the southern lights since the May showcase has lit up South Australian skies overnight.

One of the most powerful displays of the southern lights since the May showcase has lit up South Australian skies overnight, with stunning colours being displayed just before dawn.

Following two huge solar flares, which resulted in a CME hitting the Earth and disturbing the magnetic field, SA Aurora hunters have been on high alert. A constant stream of alerts have been issues over the past week, but last nights show was easily the most spectacular in recent months. Here’s some incredible photos!
