The time has arrived with Lenswood recently announcing the long awaited Pink Lady Apples are now in season just in time for the school holiday and ready to be picked.
There’s nothing like plucking a fresh, juicy apple straight from the tree to enjoy. And you can do exactly that at Lenswood Pick Your Own!
The orchard boasts an array of apple variations like Gala, Golden Delicious, Fuji, Red Delicious, Rosy Glow, Pink Lady’s and Sundowners. They are all ready at different times throughout the season. However, Pink Lady Apples remain high on the list of demand.
While it is worth the trip just to crunch into an apple straight off the tree from the magical 23-acre orchard, this year there’s a whole host of new activities which make the day trips there a unique and fun experience for the entire family.
Lenswood has some more improvements on last year, including a large sandpit, picnic tables, nature area to picnic, Kids Pomology Trail and an information trail where customers can learn how apples are grown.
Owner Emily has really been diving into the world of agritourism, first beginning in 2021 when they purchased their commercial apple orchard in 2019 with no farming or business experience and decided to turn it into an agritourism attraction.
In 2023, their second season they had 25,000 people through the orchard in less than 3 months. 2023 also saw the introduction of a Farm Café – incorporating locally produced food, vintage tractors for children to play on, school excursions and some weddings.
Now in 2024, Lenswood reopens for another season of Apple picking with all of the crowd favourites.
After you have picked out all the apples all of your Pink lady picks, you can book a picnic on the grounds or head to their Farm Cafe & Shop which is stocked with locally produced food.
The best part about it all? You can bring your dog on a lead for a small donation which they give to Puppy Rescue.
