Pirate Life sets sail for three-day roving 9th birthday bash in Port Adelaide

Pirate Life is hosting its 9th birthday bash this weekend at the Port Adelaide venue with live music, food, drink, entertainment and more.

Beloved South Australian brewery Pirate Life is marking its 9th birthday with a massive free party across three days this weekend (1st – 3rd March), transforming its Port Adelaide venue into a hotspot of live music, specialty brews, and maritime merriment.

“It’s our 9th birthday, which is crazy to think about. Three days of live music, new specialty beers, food trucks, entertainment, art installations and more. It should be a lot of fun,” founder of Pirate Life, Jack Cameron, tells Glam Adelaide.

The birthday extravaganza will have a lot going on, including live performances by Australian indie bands Dear Seattle and Le Shiv, alongside a lineup of home-grown South Australian talent. There will also be roving entertainment from Quebec-based Cirque Alfonse and captivating art installations by Myles Dun.

In fact, Pirate Life are even teaming up with western CBD saloon Shotgun Willie’s who will be taking over the Port Adelaide location on the Sunday. “We’re doing a collab with Shotgun Willie’s for a country-themed hoedown. They’ll take over the bar, you can enjoy some food items from their menu, and they’ll hook up the music with some of the fantastic bands they play usually. It’s going to be so much fun,” Jack says.

Pirate Life birthdays are always a great time. “We love to put on a free gig and celebrate the great times we’ve had with Pirate Life over the years, Jack says.

“We’ve had some international bands in the past; it’s just always a great chance to get everyone to the Port.” He reminisced about previous birthday celebrations, including one that involved dumping 20 tonnes of sand on the street for a beach party, highlighting the brewery’s knack for throwing unforgettable events.

Of course, no Pirate Life birthday bash would be complete without a delicious selection of brews. Special offerings include birthday mango lassi and vanilla malt nitro beers, making a return. You’ll also have the chance to enjoy new recipes for the first time, including a limited-release gose, made in collaboration with Franklin Harbour Oyster Co.

Reflecting on Pirate Life’s remarkable journey over the past nine years, Cameron shared insights into the brewery’s growth trajectory. “Luckily, we continue growing year on year,” he says, citing the recent expansion into Melbourne (opening in 2 weeks time) and significant upgrades to the Port Adelaide brewery.

Despite the challenges faced by the hospitality industry in the past few years, Pirate Life has thrived, with Cameron attributing their success to a unique customer experience. “Our customer service and food offering have grown, along with our diverse beer selection,” he explained. “At the end of the day, we make sure everyone who walks in has a great time.”
