Serious question: can you think of anything better than pizza by the beach? No? Me neither. It’s a pretty unbeatable combination, and it could be all yours this week, because SA’s favourite pop-up pizza spot Pizzateca is bringing their doughy delights down to Aldinga for another summer season of pizza, drinks and sunsets by the sea.
From December 27 – 30, Pizzateca will be taking over Silver Sands Beach in Aldinga to round off 2024 with their pop-up restaurant – not to be confused with their fabulous venue in McLaren Vale, awarded best pizza in SA last year. From 4pm til sundown, the famed pizza makers will be delivering a limited menu of their traditional, Neapolitan style pizzas.
And, if you miss out this week, don’t fret about it. Pizzateca’s pop-up will be back in the same spot for all of January 2025 from Wednesdays to Sundays, including the Australia Day public holiday.

Past years have offered a limited menu including Rosso (sugo, basil, oregano, garlic, olive oil), Rita (sugo, parmigiano, mozzarella, basil, olive oil), Salami (sugo, mozzarella, salami, chilli), and Bianca (mozzarella, mushroom, basil, garlic, truffle oil, pepper).
But that’s not all. If you can you see yourself soaking up the sunset while sipping a cool drink on the sand, you can do just that at the licensed bar that’s connected to the pop-up pizzeria. Take in the breathtaking coastline views and panoramic sunsets of Aldinga with a cold beer, wine, or cocktail in hand.
Their gelati bar will also be open for business, dishing out refreshing scoops of southern Italian style gelati.

Pizzateca’s pop-up not only brings their signature Italian pizza to the sunny shores of Silver Sands. It also pays tribute to the restaurant’s history, harking back to when they first began trading in 2016 as a pop-up at Alpha Box and Dice.
The restaurant quickly made a name for itself at their permanent home in McLaren Vale, becoming a local gem thanks to their authentic Neapolitan-style pizzas. Using traditional techniques and locally sourced ingredients, like Virginia-grown Roma tomatoes for their sugo, Pizzateca have brought a slice of Italy to SA since 2016. As mentioned earlier, their renowned culinary creations earned them the mantle of SA’s best pizza on South Australia’s delicious 100 list in 2023.
The pop-up has become a staple of the region in the past few years, swiftly becoming a hotspot for beach bums and foodies alike. There’s no better time than summer to get down to the beach with a cheesy slice in hand, so make sure you check out Pizzateca’s pop-up in Aldinga before summer’s over.
