Love is in the air, and if you’re in the midst of searching for your perfect wedding venue, there’s an Adelaide Hills winery making that even easier this Valentine’s Day weekend.
On February 15th, Karrawatta is opening the doors to engaged couples searching for a wedding venue that’s intimate, elevated and refreshingly untraditional. Karrawatta’s Sophie’s Hill Vineyard will host a Wedding Open Day where couples can explore inside one of the Adelaide Hills’ most beautiful celebration spaces.

Located amongst the rolling vineyard rows and native gum trees near Meadows, Karrawatta brings a sense of calm and seclusion that feels worlds away from the everyday. The cellar door itself is known for being understated and architectural, designed to sit gently within the landscape rather than compete with it. It’s this simplicity that has made Karrawatta a standout for couples planning a wedding that’s incredibly personal.
On the day, visitors will be able to explore the entirety of the property, including the boutique cellar door and lawns. Weddings at Karrawatta are offered on an exclusive-use basis, meaning couples and their guests have sole access to the space. Ceremonies are typically held outdoors on the lawn terrace between the vines, but the receptions can take place on the lawns or move indoors.

Karrawatta also limits the number of weddings it takes on each year. This means the experience is bespoke and relaxed. Plus, the space can seat up to 60 guests in the cellar door, up to 95 in a marquee on the lawns or host up to 150 cocktail style within the cellar door and/or lawns.
Food and wine are central to the Karrawatta experience, and couples are encouraged to design a menu that reflects their personal tastes. Catering options can include refined, restaurant-style menus by Africola chef Duncan Welgemoed, thoughtful seasonal spreads by Out in the Paddock, or more relaxed food truck-style dining for couples wanting something less formal. These offerings are paired with Karrawatta’s award-winning wines, grown on site and designed to elevate every part of the day.

The Wedding Open Day is designed to give attendees the most informative experience possible, allowing couples to imagine their own celebration unfolding within the landscape. The Karrawatta team will be on hand to talk through options, while a curated selection of preferred wedding suppliers will also be present. Attendees can connect with The Flower Hunt, Him & Her Music, Digital Diaries, Sparrow Weddings, Rexvil Photography and Out in the Paddock, making it an ideal opportunity to start shaping a vision.
There’s no cost to attend, and couples who pre-register will receive a complimentary Karrawatta wine pack to take home. So, for those looking for a wedding venue that prioritises atmosphere, exclusivity and genuine connection, the best way to understand Karrawatta is to experience it firsthand.

The Karrawatta Wedding Open Day takes place on Sunday, February 15th from 2pm to 6pm at 164 Greenhills Road, Meadows.
