Plans On COVID-19 Restrictions Easing Fast Forwards As SA Hits Nine Day Streak

Professor Nicola Spurrier also announced that there has been no new cases arising overnight which takes SA’s streak to nine days.

South Australia’s premier, joined by chief medical officer Professor Nicola Spurrier have provided today’s update on the current SA COVID-19 statistics.

Mr Marshall also spoke on this morning’s announcement by Prime Minister Scott Morrison that the National Cabinet will be meeting next Friday, a week earlier than planned, to discuss easing COVID-19 restrictions, with public updates set to take place after the meeting.

Mr Marshall says that the Australian Government is working as quickly as they can to provide a clear timeline on when restrictions will be lifted, however, he has no confirmed dates.

Modifications on how pubs, restaurants and clubs interact with customers is also a likely outcome, says Mr Marshall.

Case Update

Professor Nicola Spurrier also announced that there has been no new cases arising overnight which takes SA’s streak to nine days.

There is currently only 12 active COVID-19 cases in SA, and the number of close contacts receiving a daily check up for symptoms has reduced to 56.

The recovered rate stands at 97% with only three individuals in hospital, none of which being in ICU.

“We’re looking forward to a day where we have zero active cases,” Professor Spurrier says.
