Plant-based eatery Mettā Sol to open Central Market location

The beloved Goodwood eatery is bringing its vegan Vietnamese food to the CBD.

Vegans, rejoice. Your favourite Goodwood restaurant is coming to the CBD.

Much-loved plant-based eatery Mettā Sol is bringing its Vietnamese dishes to the Adelaide Central Market. It’s set to open next week.

The CBD location will have many of Mettā Sol’s signature meals and also a few new options. New items will include the Foragers Bowl, which has mushrooms, cucumbers, pickles and garden greens atop brown rice, and new Metta Sandos on sourdough rye.

The spot’s new menu offerings were designed with its location in mind.

“The Central Market location is aimed at workers in the city,” says Cindy Nguyen, who owns Mettā Sol with her childhood friend, David.

“There’s a bit of space to sit outside, but it’ll mainly be takeaway for convenience.”

Popular treats from their Goodwood restaurant include the Mettā roll with lemongrass tofu or bbq Pulled mushrooms, their pho, and their Vietnamese iced coffee. They use mainly raw, organic ingredients and make all of their own sauces and spreads, so there aren’t any mystery ingredients.

“We’re known for lots of different textures and clean, healthy but still tasty food,” David says.

“We know everything that’s going into each dish,” Cindy adds.

The owners are also working on their autumn and winter menu, which will include their popular creamy Vietnamese curry. David and Cindy are both plant-based themselves and create their Vietnamese recipes with inspiration from their childhood.

“Both our parents are from different parts of Vietnam, so we’ve created our menu with the different flavours” Cindy says.

“Food is our parents’ love language. They were always experimenting with flavours, like we do.”

The new venue will be located in the corner of Whole+Some, next to its juice bar.
