Play With Dogs In Rundle Mall On Your Lunch Break Tomorrow

Get your dose of pet therapy and relax with retired racing greyhounds in the mall tomorrow.

We don’t need scientific stats to prove that playing with dogs is therapeutic. But hey, be our guest and put the theory to test tomorrow in Gawler Place, Rundle Mall.

Greyhound Adoption Program SA (GAP SA) is encouraging city slickers to get their dose of pet therapy and relax with retired racing greyhounds this Wednesday 17th May from 9am – 4.30pm, under the Gawler Place Canopy, Rundle Mall.

The initiative, developed by GAP SA and Greyhound Racing South Australia (GRSA), will use the Pet Therapy Clinic to introduce greyhounds to tired or stressed-out office workers and shoppers by giving them the opportunity to spend time with the greyhounds.

Dianne Dumanovic Marketing Manager for GRSA said “spending just 5 minutes with these beautiful animals will put a smile on anyone’s face. We are hoping our Pet Therapy Clinic will give office workers and shoppers of Rundle Mall a chance to relax with the greyhounds, and get to understand these gentle giants a little more”.

Most importantly, people who come in to visit the Pet Therapy Clinic will have the opportunity to become a foster carer through the – You. Me. Six Weeks. foster care program, or to consider a forever home as an adopter.

Ms Dumanovic said “we are encouraging everyone to come in and spend some time with the greyhounds. When people meet a greyhound for the first time, they often fall in love with the animals and their gentle nature, and are just thrilled with the experience”.

Throughout the day, experienced foster carers, owners and GAP SA staff will be on hand to talk about the greyhound, their gentle and loving nature, what they like to eat, how much they sleep (it’s about 23 hours!), and the cheeky side to these gorgeous dogs.

Whatever your reason to visit the GAP Pet Therapy Clinic, even just 5 minutes out of your day, you will be guaranteed to leave with a smile on your face, and ready to re-join the hustle and bustle of your busy life.
