Playford Adelaide Launches TV Station To Entertain Quarantined Guests

With over 300 people in mandatory isolation, hotel staff quickly assembled a way to keep their guests entertained, fit and relaxed.

Flight arrivals from India, cooped up in a 14 day quarantine at the Playford Hotel, have been treated to their very own entertainment TV channel from hotel staff.

With over 300 people in mandatory isolation, hotel staff quickly assembled a way to keep their guests entertained, fit and relaxed.

Richard Czyzewski, from Encore Event Technologies set up a studio at the hotel to beam in programs from 10am to 5pm, with the hotel staff becoming presenters, reporters, comedians and quiz masters!

“The idea came about with staff wanting to be able to reach out to the guests visually, without the facemasks and gloves” said Melanie, Director of sales and marketing at The Playford.

“The concept snowballed from simply wanting to run a quiz, and with great community support we are now able to facilitate physical, intellectual, emotional and social wellbeing activities” added Melanie.

Local Klemzig gym, Fast Twitch quickly jumped on board to volunteer their services for virtual morning fitness classes, afternoon chair yoga and mindfulness sessions to help with the guests wellbeing.

Carmel Taylor, Fast Twitch Manager, said “Our team had no hesitation in volunteering to help these guys out, it was the least we could do!”

The guests have also been grateful by the hotel’s efforts to keep them sane, with one guests saying “this is the best thing. We all need it desperately as we can’t go out and exercise.”

There are already plans for a big celebration dinner on Monday night with a thoughtfully created three-course menu based on the guests requests, entertainment to be provided by DJ Kai Ward positioned outside the hotel, and full building lighting to bring the party feel to as many guest rooms as possible.
