PM COVID-19 Update: Australia Joins Blitz, Second Wave A Possibility

Dr Murphy stated that the rest of country has joined SA in their testing blitz’s, where anyone with acute respiratory symptoms is encouraged to get tested.

Australia’s Prime Minister Scott Morrison, joined by Chief Medical Officer Dr Brendan Murphy provided an update after today’s National Cabinet meeting.

Going further in depth several topics discussed in yesterday’s press conference, Dr Murphy stated that the rest of country has joined SA in their testing blitz’s, where anyone with acute respiratory symptoms is encouraged to get tested.

They also encourage the public to wear masks despite it not protecting from an infection, but rather helps prevent the transference to others.

The Prime Minister also reiterated that the four square metres rule does not apply to classrooms.

In regards to easing restrictions, the decision remains the same, in that the next three weeks will be monitored to see if easing certain restrictions is viable.

Mr Morrison and Dr Murphy have previously stated that lifting restrictions opens the possibility of more groups of COVID-19 cases arising.

Highlighting the trajectory that Singapore experienced with initial positive results and a second wave of COVID-19 cases as restrictions were eased.
