Polo In The Park A New Addition To The Australian International 3 Day Event

PoloBeauty and athleticism of a different kind will be included in the Australian International 3 Day Event in 2013, when Polo in the Park makes its debut on Friday, 15th November. The State of Origin twilight polo match will pit fierce rivals South Australia up against Victoria on the main arena at Victoria Park, featuring the best polo players from each state.

Polo in the Park will take place after the dressage, on day one of the AI3DE. Event Director, Gillian Rolton, said the twilight setting will provide the perfect venue for guests to relax after work while enjoying the action and glamour of the State of Origin polo match.

“We really wanted to broaden the appeal of the Australian International 3 Day Event, and hope Polo in the Park will showcase the power, beauty and athleticism of the sport.

“Thousands of spectators flock to the AI3DE 4Star Classic from interstate and overseas, and we anticipate the Polo will attract more South Australian’s to our event, especially those working in the city. We have such a wonderful, world-class event on our doorstep, and Polo further adds to the spectacle,” Gillian said.

Polo in the Park is a free event for the general public, and VIP tickets are also on offer. The VIP marquee will include luxury lounges, arena-side tables, superb food and wine, and the opportunity to rub shoulders with Australia’s elite polo players.

“We really wanted to bring polo to the people, and help the general public understand and experience first-hand what’s known as the “Sport of Kings,” Gillian said.

“There will be music, challenges for the crowd to participate in, live commentary during the match, and player interviews during the half-time break to help give everyone an insight into the sport. We expect the state of origin clash to be hugely competitive, with South Australia and Victoria battling it out for the inaugural Polo in the Park trophy.”

The Australian International 3 Day Event is Australia’s premier equestrian competition and one of only six Olympic level classics in the world.

“I’m confident this year’s event will be the biggest and the best yet,” Gillian said.

“The AI3DE offers a rare opportunity to see Olympic champions in our very own backyard. The 2013 event also has the biggest prize pool ever for Eventing in the Southern Hemisphere, with over $120,000 up for grabs.”

VIP tickets to Polo in the Park can be purchased at Ticketek for $95 or $90 for early birds. Grandstand, general admission, and VIP packages are also available for the AI3DE.
