Keen for a delicious four course feast in one of Adelaide’s trendiest wine bars with dessert included, all for $49? The popular O’Connell Street bar has relaunched its highly rated feast on Wednesdays, and this time it’s here to stay!
It’s not the first time Pastel has offered this affordable yet decadent one night a week menu, but this time it’s becoming a permanent fixture. With a seasonal menu pairing flawlessly with an expertly curated wine list, hump day might just become the new date night.
The $49 Wednesday menu will officially relaunch next Wednesday, February 19, with four courses, including a decadent dessert.
If Pastel Wednesdays of the past are anything to go by, new diners are in for a sumptuous mid-week treat with the $49 menu’s triumphant return. Last year, I remember feeling like royalty after delighting in an expansive plate of pickled treats paired with a generous carafe of Barossa Shiraz. Plus, and this is the best bit, my wallet left completely intact.
Dan Vaughan of Pastel Wine Bar said, “Our little relaunch is starting next week which is pretty exciting!”
The affordable feast is coming back, not just due to high demand, but because the cost of living crisis is putting a major strain on people’s wallets. Pastel wants to offer something really nice that doesn’t eat into savings.
“It’s just something that we like doing,” Vaughan said. “Especially with the economic times people are going through at the moment. It’s something that’s tough for everybody.”
“There’s always something we can offer at Pastel. We can always do something.”
“We’ve got potential to deliver something when people are looking for an affordable option and don’t want to break the bank. It’s something that we can do.”
It’s not an easy task standing out from the vast sea of Adelaide’s sleek wine bars, but since opening its doors in 2022, Pastel has done just that. The bar goes beyond just having an amazing wine list. It features a bright, yet cosy wood-laden interior, with enchanting artwork all around.
For 15 months now, the bar has also hosted local jazz musicians in a beautiful pairing of music, wine, and food. With over a year of Tuesday Jazz Club under its belt and now Wednesday feasts back on the menu, Pastel looks to be bringing the party to the start of the week.
