Banana Boogie Bakery is serving up some delicious hot cross buns. And I’m not the only one who thinks so.
The popular Belair bakery has just brought home the gong for the Australia’s best hot cross bun at The Baking Association of Australia’s annual Victorian Baking Show.
Owner Jason Spencer told Glam Adelaide that he was thrilled to have received such recognition.
“After 7 years of trying and perfecting the recipe, it’s pretty surreal to have won; especially after a couple of seconds and a couple of thirds. It was a great team effort this year.”
So what’s the secret? It’s pretty simple actually.
“Lots of quality Australian fruit. That’s the key. And a perfect blend of spices.” Jason laughed.
Banana Boogie won out against 143 bakeries who entered the Victorian Baking Competition, with judges tasting and testing 593 pieces of product.
But that’s not all. The bakery also won second prize. That’s right. The top two places in the nation. You can’t get better than that!
And if you’re a sweet tooth, it’s not just hot cross buns that will catch your eye at Banana Boogie. The bakery also has a mouthwatering range of delicious pastries and treats, such as Biscoff Hedgehog Slice, Peanut Butter Custard Doughies, and Piña Colada Vanilla Slice.
