A childhood dream has become a reality for a new café owner in the Adelaide CBD.
Experienced hospitality worker and cake maker, Annie Montgomery has taken over Café Luna renaming the much-loved eatery, Butterfly Table.
Annie said the name was sentimental as it was named after a tattoo that she had.
“The tattoo is of three butterflies taking flight and its three stages of situations so it’s more personal in that it relates to new beginnings.
“I have always wanted to have a café since I was a little girl and to live my dream by taking over the cafe and going from there is all part of it.”
The café which originally opened early in 2021 was previously owned by lifelong friends Olga Baranova and Marina Tazhdynova but when they decided to move on, Annie was happy to take over the reins.
Annie officially took over on the 26th of October after it had been closed on and off for about six months.
With a self-proclaimed love for the hospitality industry, Annie has worked in the industry for close to 20 years and said she was excited about this new challenge.
For the past five years, she has had her own catering business called Blue Velvet Cakes by Cheeky Taste Catering which has involved making cakes and grazing tables.
Annie said she had some grand plans going forward for Butterfly Table and the good news for those with a sweet tooth this could be right down your alley.
“Future plans are to have it as an eatery by day and a function location or bar with food by night where people can go before shows or the footy.
“I will also be offering cakes, catering and premade meals from this location.”
Annie said she would have a similar menu to the previous owners and in positive news for those looking for an afternoon pick-me-up, she said she would be open after breakfast and even on Sundays which was rare for cafes in the area.
Butterfly Table is located at 449a Pulteney Street, Adelaide 5000.
