Popular Day Dance returns to McLaren Vale this June

Get ready for a spectacular weekend in McLaren Vale as Simon Hackett Winery and Paxton Wines gear up for the annual Day Dance festival

Get ready for a spectacular weekend in McLaren Vale as Simon Hackett Winery and Paxton Wines gear up for the annual Day Dance festival, promising an unforgettable two-day extravaganza of wine, food, and music this June long weekend.

Starting on Saturday, June 8th, the Lil’ Day Dance at Simon Hackett Winery will transport attendees back to the 2000s with themed music sets including Teenage Dirtbag, Back Street Spice, and Apple Bottom Jeans. Festival-goers can kick off their day at 10:00 am and groove until 5:00 pm, enjoying an array of nostalgic hits that promise to bring the early millennium back to life.

The excitement continues on Sunday, June 9th, with a unique setup that allows visitors to wander between Simon Hackett Winery and Paxton Wines. According to the organizers, “Day Dance returns to Simon Hackett Winery and Paxton Wines on the Sunday of the June long weekend in 2024. A point of pride for us in recent years has been to be able to offer the ability for people to walk (200m) between stages at the two wineries, allowing them to choose their own adventure for the day.”

With the festival now in its eighth year, what started as a modest 500-capacity event has blossomed into a 3,000-person celebration, sprawling across multiple locations and consistently selling out. “We’re slow learners so we’re fortunate to have had 8 years of Day Dance as practice,” the organizers shared, highlighting their commitment to enhancing the guest experience each year.

Sunday’s lineup is not just about music; it’s also a showcase of some of McLaren Vale’s finest offerings. Attendees can enjoy wines from Paxton, Simon Hackett, and other local vintners, alongside craft beers and spirits. Culinary delights will be provided by local favorites such as Fine & Fettle and Doughballs.

Practical amenities have not been overlooked. Transportation options include buses from metropolitan Adelaide locations and ample free parking on-site. Over 1000m2 of undercover space ensures the festival goes on rain or shine.

“As for navigating between wineries, the gates between the two venues are opened at 11AM at which point ticket holders are free to travel between the two along some pretty picturesque vineyards as they please,” explained the organizers. This year, the festival’s layout has been optimized to ensure smooth movement between venues, enhancing safety and convenience.

Tickets for Day Dance are on sale now, with early bird offers available until midnight Sunday, April 14th. Each ticket includes a wristband, a keepsake wine glass, and a complimentary drink to start the festivities.

Whether you’re a fan of 2000s pop, house music, or country classics, Day Dance at McLaren Vale offers a little something for everyone.
